Sai Ying Pun Community Complex: AKA the Ghost House

Located in Hong Kong lies a dark and mysterious building
known as Sai Ying Pun Community Complex. This nine story building had a dark
history: It was built on the site of the Old Mental Hospital. This hospital has
such a history of being haunted that it is now popularly known as the High
Street Ghost House.

Built in 1892, the Old Mental Hospital originally served as
quarters for the foreign nursing staff of the Civil Hospital. It was then
occupied by the Japanese during WWII, where it was rumored to be used as a
house to comfort woman and, some say, as an execution hall. After the war it
was turned into a mental hospital.  Sai
Ying Pun was a mental hospital until 1962 when it switched to outpatient
services. Eventually, the building was abandoned in 1971. Ever since then
reports of paranormal activity has skyrocketed.

Visitors to the building have reported hearing mysterious
sounds, such as footsteps or a woman crying. There is sometimes a loud booming
noise heard from within the building that cannot be explained. Others have seen
the apparitions of prisoners who have had their heads decapitated. Even
creepier than the decapitated spirits is the man who appears on the second
floor of the building. This man is reported to be “devilish” and dressed in
traditional Chinese clothing. When people see this evil looking man, he bursts
into flames.
